Daniel
Boone Festival (since 1948)
The Daniel Boone Festival takes
place each year in downtown Barbourville during the first full week
of October. This festival has been an annual event since 1948,
and was voted one of the Top 25 Kentucky Downtown Festivals by
managers of the Kentucky Main Street Program in February, 2004.
The festival features a parade and a visit from the Cherokee Indians
of North Carolina. A feast is held for the signing of the Cane
Treaty between the Indians and Barbourville citizens. Other
attractions include an arts and crafts fair, quilt contests, food
booths with wonderful southern-cooked items and homemade candy, a
pioneer village, car shows, talent show, entertainment, free
concerts featuring well known artists, fishing tournament, and a
Long Rifle Shootout--all while the local citizens dress in pioneer
clothing! Please check out other festival information at
